Crisis Alternatives Support
for Adults with learning disabilities Living in the London Borough of Sutton.
We are really pleased to be starting this 1 year pilot project, supporting adults with learning disabilities who have mental health difficulties. The aim is to offer support through 1-1 advocacy and small group work, enabling people to address mental health issues at an early stage before they get into crisis.
The project will be part of our self advocacy team. We will offer 6 week blocks of 1-1 advocacy to individuals, enabling them to identify key problem areas and set SMART goals. We will also offer drop ins and wellbeing groups, so people can progress from 1-1 advocacy into group support.
The groups will enable people to learn coping strategies and well being exercises in a safe, supportive space. Members will be able to make more friends and gain a stronger support system. We will also offer support through our existing groups, Speak up Sutton and Action Voices, so the project will connect with them and members can move between the groups and 1-1 support as needed.
