Holistic financial resilience to prevent Crisis

This new important Sutton based project, has Advocacy for All in partnership with Volunteer Centre Sutton delivering an integrated, trauma-informed, resilience advocacy service that empowers Sutton residents to move beyond crisis towards financial stability, wellbeing and independence.                                                                 

 

Adult Advocacy Resilience Support – Delivered by AfA                              

AfA will provide a dedicated Advocacy Resilience Officer to support adults transitioning from detention under the Mental Health Act, discharge from Community Treatment Orders, or stepping down from statutory advocacy. Support (for up to two months) will include:

• Regular face to face sessions to improve well-being support post crises

• Supporting clients to understand financial pressures and develop strategies

• Support clients to develop their confidence and self-advocacy skills to be more resilient

• Referrals to mental health, counselling, and social prescribing services where needed

• Support individuals to move from crisis intervention to sustainable recovery and stability

 

This intervention will stabilise individual’s post-crisis, reducing repeat statutory intervention and breakdown.

 

Young People’s Advocacy Resilience and Financial Wellbeing – Delivered by VCS

 

VCS will support vulnerable young people aged 16–24, including care leavers, NEET young people, those at risk of homelessness, and those experiencing mental health or financial challenges.

Delivery will combine one-to-one tailored support and group workshops, to provide:

Wellbeing and resilience support

Budgeting and financial literacy, including benefits and income guidance

Housing advocacy and homelessness prevention

• CV development, employment readiness and volunteer or training access

• Navigation of education, employment and support systems

 

This strand strengthens financial capability, improves mental health, and supports progression into, or to remain in education, employment, training or volunteering, reducing the risk of long-term poverty and housing instability.

 

The outcomes and impact across the partnership will enable participants with:

Improved financial literacy and confidence managing money

Reduced reliance on crisis provision and housing stability

Improved mental health and wellbeing

• Increased engagement in education, employment, training or volunteering

Reduced likelihood of repeat mental health crisis
